Week 12!

The first application that I wanted to talk about is the Google docunments app. Google just started as a search engine but now provides just about everything you can think of from shoping to webpage building. The reason that I find it so helpful is that it is compatible with Microsoft office which is one of the easiest pieces of software to use since it is in almost every computer and everyone at one point or anyother has used it. The google documents allows users to use the same features without the program being Microsoft office. It only takes seconds for a user to understand how to use it and they are off and running. The best part of the google document is the fact that it is free to use. Having the ability to only need a gmail account and access all of these free material is great for someone on a budget or a student or even someone just looking for a great way to organize things.


The other one that I tinkered with was PicMonkey. I work at an electronics store and have customers that are always looking for an easy way to do editing for their photos and now I think that I have a good answer for them. It is a good program that doesn’t cost and money to use. Being able to make your photos look high-end without paying for adobe photo shop software is huge in my eyes. I was able to upload a picture and within minutes I was editing it to what I desired. I could see this being used in schools or even in a business that is trying to reduce cost but in a school it allows the school to not have to buy the rights to adobe and allows kids to be able to do this from home and then bring it back to school.

Week 10!

I chose to do this because I wanted to make a easy way for kids to create and plan out the writing of a paper. Doing this will help keep the ideas apparent and keep the student organized. keeping things separate and easy to read and showing the way the order needs to be for the student makes things easier when it comes time to write the paper as well as it would be a great tool to turn in when they submit the paper for grading.

Week 9 Jing

I decided to do something relativily easy for this assignment since I have never used screen casting before. I liked it and it was really easy to do. I did not have a mic which is why I typed some of the things that I was doing to help with things. I wanted to do something that would help people change their background so they can ad some custumization to their home screen. I think that it would be a great idea to use in the classroom in case I was not at school and wanted the sub to do a lesson that I prepared ahead of time so they would not loose valuable class time but instead learn something or go over homework or even the lesson entirly. The other thing that I liked was to be able to do the entire lesson and post it to something like a class blog so that if a student missed a class they could view it online and be able to keep up with the goings on in the class. This really was a helpful lesson that we got to do this week thanks in advance for letting us do this and showing you all of the helpful things that we can do with it.

Week 8 post

I wanted to come up with an idea of something that can show the class all of the diversity that the class has. In showing everywhere that the class comes from and what backgrounds we have we can see all of the common things we have as well as the big idea showing the diversity to help break the ice and get people talking. I would want to get them talking because they would be interested in either going there at some point or just to know what it was like there.

I think that its a great idea to be able to also show how large of an area that you have covered. It could almost be a contest that you could do at the end of a year and then to compare it to the beginning of the year. You could do this to show where you went for the summer or during the school year.

Another Idea I had was to use it to setup an entire section to show where the students are going to take a trip in a history class. The trip would be to show all the stops on the journey and what happened there or what was the big idea that ties into that place of interest like the birthplace or Winston Churchill.

Science Magazine Podcast

I liked this particular podcast because of the content. This podcast could give you great ideas on what to teach or even learn something new for yourself! I have always loved science and I think that when your teaching having a way to wow a student will get their attention and keep them focused throughout the rest of the lesson.

Week 6

I absolutely love ford trucks had one when I was in high school and am looking forward to my next one!
